Prince Edward Island conducted a draw for its Labour and Express Entry stream and Business Work Permit Entrepreneur stream on February 15, 2024, as part of the PEI PNP. The draw resulted in the issuance of 122 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination. The third PNP draw of 2024, resulted in a total of 2,308 invitations.

Selection Factors
The PEI Expression of Interest (EOI) system evaluates candidates based on several key factors to determine their eligibility:
- Language: Proficiency in English or French.
- Education: Level, the field of education, and where it was completed.
- Skill and Work Experience Level: Assessing the candidate’s expertise.
- Strategic Priorities: Attributes addressing immediate labour market needs in PEI.
- Other Factors Relevant to Employment Prospects: This includes having a job offer in PEI and/or previous Canadian work experience.
Candidates selected in this draw will receive an email notification containing their file number and instructions for submitting the complete application to the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).

PEI Expression of Interest (EOI) System
The PEI PNP utilizes the Expression of Interest (EOI) system to identify candidates with the highest potential to meet the economic and labor market needs of Prince Edward Island. Factors considered include language proficiency in English or French, education level and field, skill and work experience, alignment with strategic priorities, and other relevant employment prospects.
In 2023, the PEI PNP conducted 22 immigration draws, inviting a total of 2,422 candidates throughout the year.
Provincial Investment in Research and Knowledge Initiative (RKI)
Recently, on Jan 24, 2024, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, and Communities, announced a federal investment of nearly $6 million for twelve projects under the Research and Knowledge Initiative. The projects aim to address housing and infrastructure challenges among PEI immigrants across Canada.
The projects cover a range of topics, from climate change preparedness and affordability measures to mobility choices and infrastructure investments. The funding will support research that addresses complex challenges, including rapid urbanization, housing concerns, climate change impacts, and environmental threats.

In response to the growing interest in making Prince Edward Island their new home, PEI has introduced an ambitious draw schedule, featuring two to three draws each month throughout the year. This well-organized and transparent plan includes a total of 23 draws. The year’s second-month draw was conducted on February 1, 2024.
