OINP Update: Applications for International Students and Foreign Worker streams
On 3rd March 2020, the OINP or The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program opened applications for the International Student, and the Foreign Worker streams under the category of Employer Job Offer Category. However, the opening of these streams faced a few technical issues, and the intake of these applications had to close down within a short period on the same day.
In that time, more than 1,322 candidates completed successful registrations and received their file numbers as well. After this, they have two weeks to complete the entire process that takes approximately three hours on the official web portal of OINP.
Candidates from within the country boundaries or abroad can apply for these streams, and this category caters to immigrant candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residency in Canada.
The employer job offer category comprises three streams, namely, the International Student Stream, Foreign Worker Stream, and the In-Demand Skills Stream, and applications through the In-Demand Skills Stream are still open to eligible candidates. The sole qualification required to apply for this program is to hold a permanent working or job position with an employer in Ontario.
There is another option available for foreigners who wish to immigrate to Ontario and don’t have a job offer in the province. It is the OINP Human Capital Category, and it also comprises of foreign workers and international student graduates as its subcategories.
International students who have pursued a master’s degree from any of the educational institutions in Ontario can apply for immigration to this province via the Masters Graduate Stream. In contrast, students who have got their Ph.D. from any university in Ontario can apply via the Ph.D. Graduate Stream. To use these two streams, the students do not require to have a job offer.
