Newfoundland and Labrador Invests in Immigration Settlement Services
The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is investing $225,000 to enhance immigration settlement services and support economic integration. This initiative aims to help newcomers thrive in their new communities and contribute to the province’s growth.
The province of Newfoundland and Labrador is inviting proposals from non-profit organizations, community groups, and other eligible entities to provide immigration settlement services. The Department of Immigration, Population Growth, and Skills is offering funding of up to $300,000 for projects that support newcomers’ economic integration and overall well-being.
Funding Streams
Economic Integration Stream: This stream supports projects that help newcomers find employment, navigate the labor market, and build their skills.
Settlement Supports and Services Stream: This stream funds projects that enhance communities’ abilities to attract, welcome, and retain newcomers.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include:
Non-profit organizations
Community groups
Ethnocultural and multicultural organizations
Colleges and universities
Towns and cities
Indigenous governments
Note: Individuals, businesses, private-sector companies, and for-profit firms are not eligible.
Newfoundland and Labrador has experienced a significant increase in immigration in recent years. In 2023, the province welcomed 5,485 new permanent residents, a 56.9% increase from the previous year. Here’s a Breakdown of the Seven Categories Under the NLPNP
Express Entry Skilled Worker – Requires a valid job offer from an eligible Newfoundland and Labrador employer, a minimum CRS score of 67, and other eligibility criteria.
Skilled Worker – Need a job offer from a Newfoundland and Labrador employer and other eligibility criteria.
International Graduate – A recent graduate with a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) and a job offer.
Priority Skills NL – Requires work experience in in-demand occupations, a high level of education, and language proficiency.
International Graduate Entrepreneur – A graduate of Memorial University or College of the North Atlantic with a business plan and investment.
International Entrepreneur – Business experience, investment capital, and a business plan.
Atlantic Immigration Program – A job offer from an eligible employer in Atlantic Canada.
