Immigration Announcement
New Brunswick planning to invite more immigrants
It is widely known that Canada is trying to boost its immigration rates in the coming years, and all the provinces are enthusiastically participating in this enterprise. The bilingual province of New Brunswick is planning to increase the number of immigrants accepted every year to 10,000 at the moment. The maritime province of New Brunswick has the objective of increasing its population to one million by the year 2040.
In the event of an annual “state of the province” speech, Premier Blaine Higgs mentioned the province’s drawback of having an aging population and its contribution to labor market shortages in the long run. The premiere brought up the population growth strategy that was released by the province in 2019, according to which almost 120,000 jobs will become available in the next decade.
New Brunswick wants to combat this growing deficiency of skilled workers and implement a growth strategy that would allow the province to keep up. New Brunswick wants to increase the number of economic immigrants who settle down in New Brunswick every year to 7,500 by the end of 2024. The only drawback is that the numbers were fixed by the federal government. According to Higgs, the province is looking to raise the intake of immigrants to 10,000 each year.
The province has taken the initiative to create new offices in Europe and India so as to promote New Brunswick and attract foreign talent. This move could also generate interest among investors.
The foreign candidates who are willing to bring their skills, talent, and work experience to the province will be able to qualify under the New Brunswick Express Entry Stream. The immigration stream of the province works alongside the Express Entry system of the federal government. Candidates will have to make their Express Entry profiles in order to become the New Brunswick Express Entry stream.
