Manitoba PNP Draw Invites 27 Candidates and Launches New Work Permit Support for 2025

Manitoba continues to make bold moves in Canadian immigration this April. From issuing fresh invitations for permanent residency to introducing a temporary work permit option for nominees, the Manitoba PNP is actively working to strengthen its skilled workforce and offer better security for foreign workers in the province.
If you’ve been considering Manitoba as your future home in Canada, now’s the time to pay attention. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest draw results and a special work permit option designed for Manitoba PNP candidates in 2025.
Highlights of the Latest Manitoba PNP Draw
On April 17, 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program held its second draw of the month. A total of 27 candidates were invited to apply for Canada permanent residency through the Skilled Worker Overseas stream.
This draw focused on candidates with a strong connection to Manitoba through the province’s strategic recruitment initiatives.
Draw Details:
Stream | Number of Invitations | Minimum CRS Score |
Skilled Worker Overseas | 27 | 621 |
Out of these 27 invitations, 3 were extended to applicants who also held valid Express Entry profiles along with job seeker validation codes.
Those selected now have 60 days to submit their complete application for permanent residence. It’s crucial to meet this deadline, as missing it would result in the application being disqualified from processing.
Special Work Permit Option for Manitoba PNP Candidates Starting April 22, 2025
Beyond the draw results, Manitoba has introduced a significant new policy that will benefit many Provincial Nominee Program candidates currently living and working in the province.
Starting April 22, 2025, select Manitoba PNP candidates at risk of losing their work authorization can apply for a special, Manitoba-specific work permit. This temporary permit will allow them to legally continue working in the province while awaiting the outcome of their permanent residence application.
This move comes as a response to ongoing delays in federal immigration processing times, offering much-needed relief to skilled workers essential to Manitoba’s industries.
Who Can Apply for This Special Work Permit?
To qualify for this permit, candidates must meet certain criteria, both at the provincial and federal levels. Here’s a breakdown:
Provincial Eligibility
- Must hold a work permit expiring within 45 days or one that expired in 2024 or 2025.
- Must have continuously resided in Manitoba since before January 15, 2025.
- Should maintain a valid MPNP Expression of Interest (EOI) profile.
- Must hold a valid job offer from a Manitoba employer.
Federal Eligibility (Under IRCC’s Temporary Public Policy):
- Must have had valid work authorization as of May 7, 2024.
- Or, have applied for an extension or restoration of status if their permit expired after that date.
- Candidates must also provide documentation like a current or recently expired work permit when applying.
How to Request a Manitoba PNP Support Letter
Candidates must first request a Support Letter from the MPNP, which will serve as a required document for their work permit application to IRCC.
Required Documents Include
- Current MPNP EOI profile details.
- Letter of employment from a Manitoba-based employer.
- Proof of work permit status (valid, expired, or pending extension).
Applications for these support letters are open from April 22, 2025, to December 31, 2025. However, the province may limit the number of support letters it issues based on operational capacity, so early applications are encouraged.
Why This Matters for Manitoba’s Workforce
With this new work permit policy, Manitoba addresses a critical gap in Canada’s immigration process. Many candidates under the Manitoba PNP often face uncertainty while waiting for their permanent residence files to be finalized, especially when work permits expire.
This initiative ensures valuable foreign talent remains in Manitoba’s workforce while supporting long-term immigration goals. It’s a timely measure, considering many of Manitoba’s sectors, like healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation, rely heavily on skilled foreign workers.
Manitoba has shown it’s willing to support its nominees and local employers through policy updates and timely draws. With this latest invitation round and the introduction of a dedicated work permit option, the Manitoba PNP is providing stability and future prospects for those building their lives in the province. If you’re one of the selected candidates, act quickly on your application. And if you qualify for the new work permit, gather your documents and apply early before quotas fill up.
