The province of Manitoba has issued invitations to 221 immigration candidates allowing them to submit their applications for acquiring a provincial nomination that would give them a boost on their path to Canadian permanent residence. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) organized the draw on 6th December.

Candidates under categories such as Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas, and the International Education Stream were invited to the draw. Also known as Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), these invitations were distributed among the candidates proportionately. 165 invitations were given to candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category, and 23 invitations were distributed among the candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas category. 33 invitations were assigned to candidates under the International Education Stream. With that draw, the total number of LAAs issued by the MPNP this year has reached 7,362.

Among the 221 candidates who were given invitations for the 6th December, 18 of them already had a profile under the Express Entry pool. The Express Entry system deals with the pool of candidates from the three primary Economic-Class immigration categories in Canada. The Express Entry candidates are assigned a score on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System. The system is designed to take human capital factors like age, education, work experience, and language ability into account when assigning the score.

The candidates with the highest scores will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada through the regular draws under the Express Entry pool. Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination will boost their CRS score by 600 points, as a result of which they are almost guaranteed invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

To get a provincial nomination, candidates must have eligible work experience in an in-demand occupation of Manitoba, among other requirements.
