Manitoba Immigration Special Draw

In a display of solidarity and compassion, Manitoba opened its doors in the latest special draw, inviting 155 candidates from Ukraine. Manitoba Immigration draw for Ukrainians was conducted in alignment with IRCC’s measures, with a vision to help those affected by the ongoing events in Ukraine.

Manitoba Immigration Initiative

Conducted on February 28, 2024, the draw issued 155 Letters of Advice to Apply, specifically targeting candidates who met the eligibility criteria of the MPNP and were affected by the circumstances in Ukraine. Expressions of Interest were considered from Ukrainian citizens with a minimum CLB 4 in each language band, a connection to Manitoba, a valid language test, and a minimum score of 60 points according to MPNP assessment criteria.

Canada’s Support for Ukrainian Immigrants

Canada’s aim to aid Ukrainians extends beyond Manitoba, with initiatives like Pro Bono Ontario’s Ukrainian Refugee Legal Relief Initiative. The federal government is investing $475,788 to provide displaced Ukrainians with access to legal information and advice through a trilingual hotline. This initiative ensures that Ukrainians in Canada can seek assistance on immigration-related matters and access necessary legal services.

What is the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)?

The MPNP, a dynamic immigration initiative, boasts various streams tailored to diverse needs. Among these are the Skilled Worker Overseas/in Manitoba Stream and the International Education Stream, designed to facilitate the immigration process for skilled workers and international students, respectively.

Eligibility Criteria for Ukrainians

To be considered for the MPNP draw, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Ukrainian citizenship
  • Minimum CLB 4 proficiency in each language band
  • Establish connections to Manitoba through family, community ties, previous employment, or studies
  • Score at least 60 points in the EOI registration points grid

Possess a valid language test in one of the official languages
