If you are a young adult who wants to live and work a job in Canada temporarily, then you can take advantage of the International Experience Canada (IEC) program that is all set to make its services available to the public. The country had scheduled to open the different IEC pools on 9th December for the 2020 season, but there were some technical difficulties because of which the launch had to be delayed.

Through the IEC program, people will have the ability to experience living in Canada before they take any major steps. Once they get accustomed to the Canadian way of living and are able to integrate into the culture, they will be able to take steps towards permanent residence.

The IEC picks its candidate under three sections: Working Holiday, International Co-op, and Young Professionals. Young adults, who are aged between 18 and 35, will be able to create a profile as long as they originate from one of the 36 eligible countries listed by the program. If they fit all the eligibility requirements, they can be entered into the country’s pool of candidates under their selected category or even multiple categories.

For Working Holiday candidates, Canada will provide an open work permit to candidates who are able to apply under the Working Holiday category successfully. This flexible work permit is perfect for those without a job offer and gives them the liberty to travel and have more than one employer. On the other hand, the Young Professionals category is dedicated to candidates who already have a job offer that enhances their professional development. It is better for those who would like to stay in one particular location and work for the same employer over the entire period of time. Self-employed candidates will not qualify under this category.

The International Co-op category is suitable for students who want to have work experience in Canada. However, they must be registered at a recognized post-secondary institution or a professional offer at hand.
