Immigration options in Canada for tech talents
A recent media report by CGTN America focuses on Canada’s current role as a hot spot for global tech talent.
Canada has been welcoming tech talent with open arms for quite a while now. It has become the ideal destination for thousands of tech workers all over the world who now have to deal with the immigration restrictions that have been implemented by the U.S. government.
There are more than 100 skilled worker pathways available for skilled tech workers who are looking to obtain permanent residence. Canada is constantly making an effort to attract more workers in order to enrich the country’s flourishing tech industry.
Express Entry
Most tech candidates opt for Express Entry if they are interested in Canadian immigration. They are able to submit their profiles via Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) at no cost. IRCC is responsible for evaluating their profile and assigning them a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score on the basis of certain human capital criteria. These include the candidate’s education, age, language skills, and occupational experience. Express Entry draws are held by IRCC every two weeks in order to invite candidates with the maximum CRS scores so they can apply for permanent residence.
Canada is trying to stick to its Immigration Levels Plan 2020-2022 even though the pandemic has presented the country with a number of difficulties. IRCC has continued to organize Express Entry draws and inviting eligible candidates. Candidates who are located out of Canada are also getting success in the Express Entry system because IRCC plans to facilitate their immigration after the pandemic is brought under control worldwide.
PNP
Tech workers should also prepare to take advantage of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Territories and provinces in Canada hold the constitutional authority that allows them to select immigrants who will satisfy their local economic needs.
