Federal Skilled Worker Program

Canada has emerged as the new popular destination for immigrants because of its welcoming policies and friendly immigration programs. Skilled people ( Federal Skilled Worker) across the globe are now looking for ways they can immigrate to Canada.

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is the oldest and still one of the best immigration solutions for skilled workers. The program was launched in 1967 when Canada decided to use an objective points system for selecting and inviting skilled immigrants. Earlier, Canada invited immigrants on the basis of subjective factors, but this approach was not sustainable in the long run.

Title

The FSWP turned out successful because of Canada’s decision to focus on objective factors like age, education, language abilities and professional standing when assessing if an immigrant would be suitable for the country’s labor market.

What should you do?

If you want to immigrate to Canada via the FSWP, follow these steps:

  • Make sure that you fulfill all eligibility criteria of Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).
  • Complete and register an Express Entry profile on the IRCC website to receive your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. The CRS score usually depends on age, language abilities, educational qualifications, work experience and other factors.
  • Keep an eye on the regular Express Entry draws organized by Canada to know if you have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence. These draws are usually held once a fortnight and the invitations are issued to the candidates with the highest scores.
  • Complete and submit a permanent residence application if you get the ITA. IRCC will evaluate and finalize your application, after which you can move.
