Canada Organizes a Huge Express Entry Draw

After the coronavirus pandemic led to reduced immigration numbers last year, Canada has decided to boost immigration this year. Canada is inviting large batches of candidates through regular Express Entry draws. Candidates already staying in Canada are receiving preference at this time because the country is yet to remove the international travel restrictions. 

On May 31, Canada organized the third-largest Express Entry draw ever to invite a total of 5,956 candidates belonging to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The selected candidates can now submit their applications for permanent residence. This time, they required a Comprehensive Ranking Score of just 380, which happens to be the second-lowest CRS score requirement ever.

All the people who received invitations in this draw already had a year’s worth of professional work experience in Canada. They also fulfilled all the other requirements of the Canadian Experience Class. In comparison to the last CEC-specific draw held by Canada, the country issued 4,114 extra invitations in the May 31 draw.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry happens to be the backbone of the Canadian Express Entry system. Candidates who register in the pool are evaluated on the basis of their age, educational qualifications, professional achievements and language abilities. The ones with the highest scores will have a shot at becoming permanent residents.

Canada is currently holding draws exclusive to PNP and CEC candidates. The minimum CRS score requirements vary in these draws because the PNP draws are meant for provincial nominees who have received an extra 600 points.
