British Columbia’s New Tech Pilot Draw

British Columbia has been very active when it comes to inviting skilled workers who will be able to benefit the economy in the post-pandemic period. The province has been organizing draws regularly which shows that it intends to welcome more people this year to make up for last year’s losses.

On February 9, the province of British Columbia decided to issue 74 invitations to applicants who will now be able to submit their applications for provincial nominations. The candidates who actually manage to secure provincial nominations will have a higher chance of obtaining permanent residence in the next federal Express Entry draw. 

Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration categories were targeted by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program or BC PNP under the Tech Pilot program. The BC PNP Tech Pilot is a fast-track immigration pathway for international students and tech workers.

It was launched back in 2017 and has enjoyed immense success since then because of which it has been extended multiple times.

Requirements 

The candidates chosen during this draw required a minimum provincial score of 80 irrespective of whether they belonged to the Skilled Worker or International Graduate subcategory. Tech Pilot draws have been enjoying lower score requirements from the beginning of the year, and this draw was no exception. 

Candidates who qualified under the Tech Pilot already have a valid job offer spanning at least a year in one of the listed professions. They are also registered in any of the existing provincial immigration streams. 

Selected candidates will be able to apply for the provincial nomination within the next 30 days.
