British Columbia issues invitations to 62 immigration candidates who have tech skills
The Canadian province of British Columbia recently issued 62 invitations to candidates who were then allowed to apply for a provincial nomination to the province’s PNP Tech Pilot candidates.
The British Columbia PNP Tech Pilot caters to international students and in-demand tech workers and provides a fast-track immigration pathway. The Tech Pilot candidates who are invited by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) must have a job offer in any of the pilot’s 29 in-demand professions, and it should last for at least a year in duration.
Details of the draw:
The invitations to apply for a provincial nomination were distributed amongst international students and foreign tech workers via the BC PNP. The draw was held on July 21 and offered invitations to candidates belonging to the International Graduate and Skilled Worker categories of the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams. The selected candidates under all the subcategories required a minimum provincial score of 80.
Why is the program useful?
Candidates who are registered in the Express Entry BC categories are given an additional 600 points, which is added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) when their provincial nomination application is successful. The extra points effectively ensure that these candidates receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
The other candidates who received the invitations under the Skills Immigration categories will have their Canadian permanent residence applications processed by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) directly once British Columbia issues a provincial nomination.
If you are interested in immigrating to British Columbia via the BC PNP categories, you should create an online BC PNP online profile. Applicants belonging to the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, Skilled Worker, and International Graduate categories will have to register to the province’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) to receive a score.
