British Columbia Held Tech and Targeted Draw For the Skills Immigration Stream

Recently on March 30, 2023, the Canadian province of British Columbia held both tech and targeted draws. The draw issued 216 invitations to apply to skilled workers and international graduates under the Skills Immigration stream.

The number and frequency of Expressions of Interest (NOI) are based on British Columbia’s backlog of applications at the moment. With a few exceptions, BC PNP draws are typically held every week.

Most of the provinces and territories (except Quebec and Nunavut) conduct their own PNPs. Through these PNP programs, interested candidates are offered invitations for provincial nomination. However, a provincial nomination is not similar to permanent residence, but it effectively increases the chances of PR status in Canada. The selected candidates also become eligible to be invited to apply for a PNP-specific round of invitations.

The BC PNP held rounds of invitations and issued a total of 165 ITAs to candidates in tech occupations. In the draw, the candidates required a minimum CRS score of 85.

The issued invitations were divided across the following immigration stream, mentioned below:

• Skilled Worker-EEBC Option;
• International Graduate-EEBC option

The Canadian province also conducted rounds of invitations for applicants working in the targeted occupations. The BC PNP targeted draw invited 51 candidates in total.

Here is a full breakdown of categories that invited candidates under the Skills Immigration stream:

• 23 Early childhood educators and assistants (NOC 42202) with a minimum score of 60
• The targeted draw issued invitations to 23 Healthcare workers with a minimum score of 60
• Invited 5 candidates from other priority occupations – (NOC 31103) and (NOC 32104) with a score of 60.
