Express Entry
Alberta Issued Invitations To Express Entry Candidates
The Canadian province of Alberta organized a draw on March 2 to invite eligible Express Entry candidates who will now be able to apply for a provincial nomination. Alberta has already invited 709 candidates this year, inclusive of this draw.
Details of the draw
A total of 200 skilled candidates in the Express Entry pool received invitations from the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program or AINP. All candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System or CRS score of 301. The people who have been invited now have the opportunity to be nominated by Alberta for a nomination which could take them further towards their goal of permanent residence in Canada.
Alberta PNP
In order to be invited via the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP, candidates needed to have a profile in the Express Entry system. Alberta uses this enhanced PNP to target candidates who already have strong connections to Alberta and will hence be able to support the diversification priorities and economic development of the province.
The pandemic has made it difficult for people to travel across international boundaries which is why Alberta is only inviting candidates who are residing and working in the province already for the time being. They should also have professional experience in any of the occupations rendered eligible by the AINP.
The people who manage to secure a provincial nomination will have the advantage of 600 extra CRS points which will be added to their final score. This boosted score will give them an edge over other candidates.
