Alberta invites another 148 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination

The immigration system in all the Canadian provinces has been focused on increasing the number of new Canadians. The latest draw that was held in Alberta saw the distribution of 148 invitations. The draw is linked with the Express Entry immigrant nominee stream. The candidates who received invitations will now be able to submit their applications for a provincial nomination if they are aiming for Canadian permanent residence. Having a provincial nomination can significantly boost the chances of gaining permanent residence in the long run.

The Express Entry candidates who were chosen in the draw held on 6th November required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 along with other eligibility requirements. Candidates with a score of less than 400 had no chance of securing an invitation. The federal Express Entry system is very popular in Canadian immigration because it is in charge of the entire pool of candidates who can be classified into any of the three main economic immigration categories of the country. The Express Entry system manages the candidates belonging to the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Class.

The CRS score given to Express Entry candidates is based on human capital factors like age, language proficiency, work experience, and education. Provincial nomination acts as an additional requirement but adds 600 CRS points to the candidate’s score. As a result, the candidate is almost guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from the Canadian Government.

If candidates want to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province of Alberta, it is mandatory for them to have a profile in the federal Express Entry database. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is responsible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream.
