New Brunswick, Alberta, and Manitoba Held Draws for Provincial Immigration

In the most recent rounds of provincial nominee programs (PNP), candidates have been invited to apply from the provinces of New Brunswick, Alberta, and Manitoba.

In Canada, there are a number of provincial and territorial nomination programs (PNPs). Under these programs, interested candidates are invited to apply for their provincial nomination. Receiving a provincial nomination can be a valuable step toward attaining permanent residency.

Most of the provinces and territories in Canada except Quebec and Nunavut manage their own PNPs. Quebec’s immigration programs are separate from those in Canada and are administered by the province itself. Only through these programs, potential applicants can apply for provincial immigration. However, a provincial nomination is not similar to the permanent resident status, it can act as the first step towards attaining permanent residence from IRCC.

Highlights of the Draw – Who Was Invited?

New Brunswick

On April 4, the province of New Brunswick announced the results of the March draw. The draw invited a total number of 186 invitations to candidates to apply for the provincial nomination.

The province through this draw invited:

• 70 candidates through the NB Employment Connection
• 40 through the NB Student Connection
• 74 via the NB occupations-In Demand Connection

Alberta

The province of Alberta held a draw and invited a total number of 150 invitations to candidates to apply through the Express Entry stream for the provincial nomination – Alberta Advantage Immigration Program. To qualify, candidates are required to score as low as 372 CRS points. In addition, they must have had a family connection and an in-demand primary occupation to qualify in the draw.

Manitoba

Last week, the Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program (MPNP) issued invitations to candidates in the targeted occupations. At the most recent Manitoba draw, 566 Letters of Advice were distributed, and 157 of those were given to applicants who could present a valid Express Entry ID and Job Seeker validation number.

Here’s a breakdown of the invitations:

Skilled Workers Stream

• Occupation specific
  225 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to Skilled Workers in Manitoba with a minimum score of 615
• All Occupations
  226 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued to skilled workers in Manitoba with a minimum score of 670

International Education Stream

A total of 61 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) in Manitoba were issued to the International Education stream candidates. Skilled Worker Overseas
54 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to Skilled Worker Overseas with a minimum score of 708.
