Alberta Sets a New Immigration Target to Fill 100,000 Jobs

Alberta’s Immigration Targets to Fill Job Vacancies in Canada

According to Alberta’s updated immigration targets, the province of Alberta has learnt that it can now issue a total of:

  • 9,750 nominations in 2023;
  • 10,140 nominations in 2024; and
  • 10,849 nominations in 2025

The province will issue these ITAs through its Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) offers a range of options for immigrants to apply for Canadian permanent residence in all industries and at all skill levels. The list includes international graduates, business owners, and temporary foreign employees.

In 2023, AAIP’s most popular streams—Rural Renewal and Rural Entrepreneur will help strengthen local economies by luring immigrants to the province’s rural areas. With the help of these streams, talented immigrants will be able to survive and grow outside of Alberta’s urban centres and fill open opportunities there.

Immigrating to Alberta in 2023?

In an effort to welcome more skilled immigrants, Alberta has opened up a number of new pathways and introduced processing procedures since October 2022.

Although Alberta has created 120,000 new employments since the beginning of 2021, the province still has roughly 74,140 open vacancies. In addition, the province anticipates a 33,100 labour deficit by 2025 in a variety of jobs, skill levels, and industries. By generating employment, diversifying the economy, and bolstering the workforce in every area of the province, immigrants play a crucial part in addressing the labour shortages.

In order to facilitate important businesses like healthcare, construction, technology, agriculture, and tourism, among others, it is expected that they will contribute fresh talents and experience. Hence, the province’s economic growth will be maintained by Alberta’s higher immigration intake targets.
