Commercial examination capacity includes 12 secondary examination docks and two fully enclosed examination bays, while travellers needing a closer look can be directed to one of four secondary or tertiary garages. 

Detection technology at the site includes large-scale and small-scale imaging systems, detector dogs, trace detection tools, density meters, and scopes, all aimed at verifying legitimate goods while keeping contraband out. A multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists rounds out the crossing, with toll-free access set to begin on August 5. 

Staffing the New Port of Entry 

The CBSA has allocated approximately 1,400 personnel, including border services officers and management, to ports of entry across the Southern Ontario Region to support this expanded capacity. Officers are generally assigned to a home port of entry but can be temporarily redeployed to busier locations as needed, giving the agency flexibility to manage demand across the wider Windsor area.
