Yukon Opens Expression of Interest Intake for 2025 Nominee Program

The Government of Yukon is set to open an Expression of Interest (EOI) intake for employers looking to apply to the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) in 2025. This process aims to prioritize applications based on workforce needs rather than a first-come, first-served system.
Key Details of the Yukon Nominee Program EOI Intake
- Opening Date: March 31, 2025, at 9:00 AM Yukon Standard Time.
- Closing Date: April 22, 2025, at 4:30 PM Yukon Standard Time.
Employers interested in nominating foreign workers must submit a basic form to enter the EOI pool. From this pool, candidates will be selected based on the following priority areas:
- Foreign nationals who have lived and worked in Yukon for at least one year.
- Yukon University graduates.
- Francophone or French-speaking candidates.
- Recipients of a Temporary Measure Letter or Support.
Why the New EOI Approach?
The Yukon government has adopted this model to ensure a fair and strategic allocation of nominations. The approach is designed to:
- Align nominations with Yukon’s labor market needs.
- Offer a structured and transparent selection process.
- Prevent the disadvantages of a first-come, first-served model.
With only 215 nomination spots available in 2025, not all applicants who express interest will receive an invitation to apply. The shift to this model aligns with trends in other Canadian provinces adapting to changes in immigration policies.
Important Considerations for Employers
- Employers who applied to the YNP in 2024 do not need to submit a new EOI, but their applications will be assessed under the 2025 priorities.
- A final report on the number of EOI submissions received will be published on Yukon.ca at the end of the intake period.
- The federal government has reduced Yukon’s nominee program allocations by 50% in 2025, with lower limits expected to continue.
For more details on the application process and selection criteria, the submission form and operational guidelines will be available on the Yukon government’s official page once the intake begins.
