NBPNP Skilled Worker Stream Paused
The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) temporarily paused its Skilled Worker stream after May 17th to manage high volumes. Those with jobs in NOC 0-4 are recommended to explore the Atlantic Immigration Program instead. French-speaking candidates still being invited.
Citizenship Act Amendments Coming
The federal government is preparing to amend the Citizenship Act, potentially impacting over 3,500 stateless “Lost Canadians.” A “substantial connection test” may require parents to prove Canadian ties to pass citizenship to children born abroad.
Sudbury’s Latest RNIP Draw
On May 10th, Sudbury invited 32 candidates in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot’s Conventional Stream with a minimum 145 score. The city has recommended around 800 candidates through RNIP since launch.
New IEC Invitations Issued
Last week, IRCC invited 2,374 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit, with Korea, UK, France, and Japan receiving the most invitations. 33,990 candidates remain in the pool.
