Ontario Organizes New Provincial Nomination Tech Draw
The Canadian provinces are organizing their final draws of the year. While 2020 has not been easy for immigration, the provinces have managed to select hundreds of eligible skilled laborers who will benefit the provincial economy.
On December 15, Ontario organized a Tech Draw during which 668 candidates received invitations. This was the province’s fifth Tech Draw of 2020. The selected candidates belong to the Express Entry pool and they will now be able to submit their application for a provincial nomination.
Details of the draw
The Express Entry candidates were required to have a CRS score in the range between 460 and 468 in order to be eligible for an invitation. The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program distributed the targeted Notifications of Interest among people who might be eligible for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream. While candidates do not need to have a job offer necessarily, they should have existing profiles in the federal Express Entry database.
For this draw, Ontario picked candidates with at least a year’s job experience in any of the following professions:
- NOC 2174 Computer programmer and interactive media developers
- NOC 2175 Web designers and developers
- NOC 2147 Computer engineers
- NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
- NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
- NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
The candidates who are successful in securing a provincial nomination will be awarded an extra 600 CRS points. With the extra points in hand, they will almost be guaranteed an Invitation to Apply during the next Express Entry draw.
After receiving the NOI, candidates can submit their application in the next 45 days.
