The Canadian province of Ontario issued 528 invitations among Express Entry candidates in a new PNP Tech Draw on April 13. Candidates who have professional tech experience were selected in the draw. The chosen candidates will now have the chance to submit an application for a provincial nomination.
Details of the draw
In this new PNP tech draw, Ontario issued invitations to the people who fulfill the eligibility requirements for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream in Ontario. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement for the candidates to be selected was in the range of 456 and 467. They must have created profiles in the Express Entry system.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) chose to issue invitations to candidates who have at least a year of work experience in one of six tech professions. They were:
- Computer programmers, interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
- Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
- Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
- Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)
- Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
- Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
The people who got an invitation will be able to apply within 45 calendar days. Candidates who manage to get the nomination from Ontario will have 600 points added to their CRS score. They get an advantage over other candidates and are hence more likely to receive an invitation in the next draw.
According to the OINP, candidates who are unable to show that they have work experience in any of the specified occupations will be rejected.
