Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program

On September 10, 2024, Ontario invited skilled immigrants under its latest draw held under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). A total of 2,487 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued across three Employer Job Offer streams. These streams are designed to help Ontario employers fill critical labor shortages by hiring qualified foreign workers and international students who are already in Canada or abroad.

The latest draw targeted candidates in the Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW), International Student Stream (EJO IS), and In-Demand Skills Stream (EJO IDS).

Breakdown of the Latest OINP Draw Results

Ontario’s OINP draws have been gaining attention for their role in addressing specific labor market needs. In the most recent draws, here is how the invitations were distributed:

Foreign Worker Stream (EJO FW): 1,017 skilled trades workers received invitations through this targeted draw, which aims to fill crucial positions in skilled trades across Ontario. In addition, 15 invitations were issued to candidates participating in the Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP), a federal initiative that helps refugees with job offers to immigrate to Canada.

International Student Stream (EJO IS): A total of 806 international students with experience in healthcare occupations were invited. The minimum required score was 67 points, a measure of a candidate’s competitiveness based on factors such as education, work experience, and language skills.

In-Demand Skills Stream (EJO IDS): In a general draw, 649 candidates received invitations. These individuals are in-demand in specific industries across Ontario, such as agriculture, construction, and transportation. The minimum score required for this stream was 34.

Employer Job Offer Streams: A Closer Look

Ontario’s Employer Job Offer streams are divided into several categories that cater to different types of workers. These include:

Foreign Worker Stream: This stream targets skilled foreign nationals with a job offer from an Ontario employer. Candidates must have relevant work experience in the job offer position and meet minimum wage standards in Ontario.

International Student Stream: This category is for recent international graduates from Canadian post-secondary institutions who have secured a job offer in Ontario. The stream focuses on retaining talent that has already been trained in Canada.

In-Demand Skills Stream: For workers in occupations that are in high demand in Ontario, such as agricultural workers, truck drivers, and personal support workers. This stream is ideal for candidates who may not meet the high requirements for skilled trades but are still essential to the province’s economy.

If you’re considering immigrating to Ontario, staying updated on future draws and eligibility criteria is essential. The OINP regularly invites candidates through its Employer Job Offer streams, offering them a pathway to permanent residency and a chance to contribute to Ontario’s growing economy.
