Nova Scotia Seeks Pediatricians via Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot

In a targeted effort to bolster its healthcare workforce, the province of Nova Scotia has extended invitations to candidates interested in pursuing a career as pediatricians through the Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot. This strategic move aims to address staffing needs in the crucial field of pediatric medicine.

On June 11, 2024, candidates who had previously received a Letter of Interest from Nova Scotia were invited to participate in a physician draw under the Pilot program. Successful applicants in this draw may receive a conditional job offer from a Nova Scotia healthcare employer, opening the door for them to apply to the Physician streams under the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NS PNP) or the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

While participation in the Pilot and nomination under a non-Express Entry stream or endorsement under the AIP will not add 600 points to applicants’ Express Entry profiles, this pathway provides a dedicated avenue for qualified pediatricians to contribute their expertise to Nova Scotia’s healthcare system.

Notably, while the initial invitation was extended to all candidates in the NOC 3120 classification, which encompasses physicians and pediatricians, the province has specifically requested applications from those with work experience as pediatricians.

The Healthcare Professionals Immigration Pilot is part of Nova Scotia’s broader strategy to attract and retain healthcare professionals from around the world. By leveraging immigration programs, the province aims to build a robust and diverse healthcare workforce capable of meeting the evolving needs of its communities.

As the application process unfolds, prospective pediatricians will have the opportunity to showcase their qualifications and contribute to Nova Scotia’s commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services for all.
