It is safe to say that countries all over the world had problems with immigration because of the pandemic. Canada also failed to meet all its 2020 immigration targets since traveling was restricted. However, Canada did manage to hold regular draws both at the federal and at the provincial levels to constantly invite new eligible workers throughout the year.

All the Canadian provinces organized periodic draws to issue invitations to skilled workers for their labor market. The post-pandemic recovery will depend significantly on immigrants and their contributions.

Nova Scotia invites more than 3000 people

Nova Scotia, in particular, approved a significantly large number of immigrants and it seems that it was very much the right path to take. The province invited 3,517 candidates last year. Many of the invited applicants are engaged in essential occupations like healthcare.

Nova Scotia also made it a point to invite more candidates who are already living in Canada since they will not have to wait for the travel restrictions to lift before shifting to the province.

These candidates will play a crucial role in the economic recovery of the province once the pandemic is truly behind us. The immigration numbers in Nova Scotia were lower in 2020 than 2019 but that is to be expected considering how the pandemic slowed down official services.
