Manitoba Launches New Department With Aim to Boost Immigration

The Canadian provinces want to ensure that 2020 works out well for immigration. They have already begun hosting draws because they do not want to delay progress. The provinces are also working on making improvements to the immigration process to make it more convenient for candidates all over the world.

New department 

Manitoba made an announcement on January 5, 2021 stating that they are planning to make a new immigration department for advanced skills and education. This measure is a part of their post-pandemic economic recovery plan. According to Manitoba, the new department will try to align the higher and advanced educational institutions of the province with the gaps in the labor market.

The goal is to let the young people of Manitoba pick up skills that are critical to the labor market and will remain relevant in the coming year. New immigrants will also benefit from this department because they will have access to more job opportunities. 

Immigration opportunities 

The immigration streams in Manitoba tend to target candidates from a variety of fields. The Skilled Workers in Manitoba and the Skilled Workers Overseas Category let Manitoba offer provincial nominations to eligible candidates who can take up important jobs. On the other hand, international students who completed their graduation from a university in Manitoba can take advantage of the International Education Stream.

The province recently held a draw on January 14 to issue invitations to 272 skilled candidates who now have the chance to apply for a provincial nomination. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program targeted all three streams.
