Work in Canada
Explore Canada with the IEC Program 2025 – Updated Fees and Key Details
The International Experience Canada (IEC) Program 2025 is now open, offering young individuals an extraordinary opportunity to live, work, and travel in Canada. This year’s program introduces updated fees, with the work permit application cost now set at CAN$179.75, effective December 16, 2024. Designed for individuals aged 18 to 35 (or 18 to 30 for certain countries), the IEC program provides a pathway to explore Canada’s vibrant culture, scenic landscapes, and professional opportunities.
The IEC Program Pathways
The IEC program is a government initiative that helps international youth experience Canada while gaining invaluable work experience. Participants can stay for up to two years, depending on their country’s agreement with Canada.
The program offers three pathways:
The Working Holiday stream provides an open work permit for participants to work for any employer and fund their travels.
The Young Professionals stream issues employer-specific work permits, allowing participants to gain professional experience in their field.
For students, the International Co-op (Internship) stream facilitates on-the-job learning in their area of study.
Together, these streams create opportunities to build professional skills, enhance language proficiency, and immerse participants in Canadian life.
IEC Updated Fees 2025
The 2025 program comes with a slight adjustment to its fees, but the increase to CAN$179.75 remains affordable considering the benefits. This fee supports access to life-changing opportunities that include professional development and cultural exploration. From acquiring work experience to improving English or French language skills, participants can strengthen their resumes while experiencing Canada’s diversity.
Eligible candidates must meet specific criteria. Applicants must be citizens of countries with youth mobility agreements with Canada, fall within the required age range (18 to 35 or 18 to 30), and hold valid passports with enough financial resources to support their stay. Those who apply early will increase their chances of securing a spot, as timelines for invitations and quotas vary.
What Makes Canada an Ideal Destination to Work in 2025?
Canada is a top destination for international youth for good reason. With a high quality of life, cultural diversity, and breathtaking natural beauty, it offers an ideal environment for both personal and professional growth. From dynamic cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal to iconic landmarks such as Banff National Park and Niagara Falls, Canada provides experiences that appeal to every interest.
Participants in the IEC program are well-protected under Canadian labor laws. Foreign workers are guaranteed fair wages and safe workplaces, and employers are prohibited from confiscating work permits or passports. In the event of any violations, Canada has clear processes for reporting and resolving such issues to safeguard participants’ rights.
Applying for the IEC program is straightforward. Eligible candidates can apply directly through the Government of Canada’s official portal. Alternatively, they can seek assistance from Recognized Organizations (ROs), which provide guidance to make the application process smoother. Whether applying independently or with support, the IEC program is a remarkable gateway to achieving personal and professional aspirations.
The International Experience Canada (IEC) Program 2025 presents an exceptional chance to experience life in one of the world’s most welcoming countries. This program goes beyond work, offering participants an opportunity to broaden their horizons, build connections, and embrace Canadian culture.
