Canada’s New 2024 IEC Draw Invites Around 2,000 Open Work Permit Candidates
Exciting news for aspiring IEC participants! In the first week of September 2024, a total of 1,674 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued under the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. This surge in invitations is a positive sign for those hoping to work and travel in Canada.

Important Updates for IEC Participants
IEC Fees
- Amount: The IEC fees for 2024 have been announced and vary depending on the program you’re participating in.
- Working Holiday: Candidates in the Working Holiday program pay a fee of CAD $100.
- Young Professionals and International Co-op: Participants in these programs do not pay additional fees, but their employers must pay a CAD $230 employer compliance fee.
- Biometrics: If you need to give biometrics, you’ll also need to pay the CAD $85 biometric fee.
- Refunds: Fees may be refundable in certain circumstances, such as if you withdraw your application or if your employer withdraws your offer of employment.
Insurance
- Mandatory: Having adequate health insurance is mandatory for your stay in Canada under the IEC program.
- Coverage: Your insurance should cover medical expenses, including prescription drugs and emergency services.
How to Apply for the IEC Program
- Check Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria for the IEC program, which includes being between 18 and 35 years old and a citizen of a participating country.
- Create a Profile: Submit your profile to the IEC pool during the application period.
- Receive an Invitation: If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for a work permit.
- Submit Your Application: Once you receive an invitation, you’ll have a limited time to submit your complete application.
