Canada Invites 6442 IEC Candidates

Canada continues to welcome young international workers through the International Experience Canada (IEC) program. According to the latest update from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the country issued 6,442 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) between June 6 and July 10, 2026 under multiple International Experience Canada pools.

The latest rounds bring the total number of Canada IEC invitations 2026 to 83,013 so far this season. Meanwhile, 36,940 candidates remain in the IEC pools waiting for future invitations.

The International Experience Canada program remains one of Canada’s most popular temporary work permit pathways for young adults from partner countries. Through Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op categories, eligible applicants can gain valuable Canadian work experience while living in the country.

What Is the International Experience Canada Program?

International Experience Canada (IEC) is a temporary mobility program that allows eligible young people from countries with bilateral youth mobility agreements to work and travel in Canada.

Depending on the agreement between Canada and each participating country, applicants may qualify under one of three categories:

  • Working Holiday
  • Young Professionals
  • International Co-op (Internship)

Many Working Holiday participants receive an open work permit, allowing them to work for almost any eligible employer across Canada.

More Than 6,400 Invitations Issued in One Month

Between June 6 and July 10, 2026, IRCC invited 6,442 candidates across numerous participating countries.

Some of the largest invitation totals included:

  • Korea – 1,234 invitations
  • Australia – 1,186 invitations
  • France – 809 invitations
  • Germany – 630 invitations
  • United Kingdom – 527 invitations
  • Italy – 424 invitations
  • New Zealand – 318 invitations
  • Spain – 143 invitations
  • Taiwan – 136 invitations
  • Ireland – 121 invitations

Invitations were also issued to candidates from more than twenty additional participating countries and territories, reflecting the broad international reach of the IEC program.

More Than 83,000 Invitations Issued in 2026

With the latest rounds completed, Canada has now issued 83,013 IEC invitations during the 2026 season.

At the same time, 36,940 candidates remain in the invitation pools awaiting future draws.

The number of invitations issued throughout the season depends on:

  • Country-specific quotas;
  • Available program spaces;
  • Applicants accepting or declining invitations;
  • Work permit refusals; and
  • Remaining annual allocations.

IRCC continues conducting invitation rounds until quotas are filled or the 2026 IEC season officially closes.

Country Quotas Continue to Change

IRCC also confirmed that quotas for several participating countries have been redistributed during the season.

Quota adjustments allow Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to better balance available spaces among participating countries and categories.

For applicants, quota redistribution can improve invitation opportunities where demand and available spaces differ from initial projections.

Because quotas may change throughout the year, applicants are encouraged to monitor updates regularly instead of relying only on opening allocations.

United Kingdom Pool Remains Highly Competitive

One example highlighted in the latest update is the United Kingdom Working Holiday category.

As of July 10, 2026, the program statistics showed:

  • Quota: 9,285
  • Invitations issued: 14,211
  • Remaining spots: 158
  • Candidates currently in the pool: 2,636
  • Chance of receiving an invitation: Very Low

The figures illustrate how IRCC continues issuing more invitations than the original quota because some candidates decline invitations or fail to complete the application process.

However, with very few spaces remaining, competition has become increasingly intense for candidates still waiting in the UK pool.

What Applicants Should Know

Receiving an Invitation to Apply is only the first stage of the IEC process.

After receiving an invitation, eligible candidates must submit a complete work permit application within the required deadline.

Applicants should also remember that:

  • invitations are not guaranteed;
  • Pools remain open until the season closes;
  • Invitation frequency varies by country;
  • Some countries receive multiple invitation rounds each month.

Keeping profiles active and ensuring all information remains accurate is essential throughout the season.

Why the IEC Program Matters

International Experience Canada continues to play an important role in Canada’s labour market by helping employers fill temporary workforce needs while providing young international workers with valuable Canadian experience.

For participants, Canadian work experience can also support future immigration opportunities through pathways such as Express Entry or Provincial Nominee Programs, provided they meet the eligibility requirements of those programs.

Although the IEC program itself does not provide permanent residence, it often serves as an important first step for many future immigrants.

The latest Canada IEC invitations 2026 update demonstrates that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada continues to actively invite young international workers through the International Experience Canada program.

Between June 6 and July 10, Canada issued 6,442 invitations, bringing the season total to 83,013 invitations, while nearly 37,000 candidates remain in the pools awaiting future draws.

Applicants should continue monitoring invitation rounds, country quotas, and available program spaces, as opportunities vary significantly throughout the IEC season.
