Canada Hosts Latest CEC-specific Express Entry Draw
Canada has been begun organizing regular Express Entry invitation rounds to invite larger batches of skilled workers into the country. Canada aims to welcome 401,000 permanent residents in 2021 despite the travel restrictions. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is currently targeting candidates who are already living in the country.
On May 13, Canada hosted a new round and issued a total of 4,147 invitations to candidates in the Express Entry pool. The score requirement was on the lower side to accommodate more candidates. The candidates who received invitations had to have a minimum score of 401.
Details of the draw
For this Express Entry draw, Canada focused on inviting candidates who could fulfill the eligibility requirements of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). They worked for at least a year in a skilled profession in Canada, and their language proficiency was intermediate in both English and French. This Canadian experience gives an advantage to CEC candidates because they have a better chance of securing employment and a higher salary.
The candidates who had a score of 401 and above were invited only if they had registered their Express Entry profile prior to April 29, 2021, at 11:48:14 UTC. This was in accordance with the tie-break rule that is enforced by IRCC irrespective of an actual draw taking place.
Canada has issued 66,475 Express Entry invitations so far this year. CEC is a great program for skilled professionals in Canada who want to become permanent residents in the long run.
