BC Tech Pilot Update: The removal of guaranteed ITA scores

It’s been a hectic start for the BC PNP or the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. With the removal of guaranteed ITA scores and three Tech Pilot draws, February came with some good news for many candidates.

The Express Entry has sent out more than 1096 invitations this year. Additionally, as a part of the Tech Pilot program, B.C. sent around 211 invitations.

The Tech Pilot program by British Columbia is a unique initiative taken for the international students and in-demand tech workers to help them with a fast immigration pathway. The main motive this to help Canada in attracting and recruiting the best international talents and also support the economy. Candidates can determine their eligibility for the Tech Pilot by completing their application for Canadian residency via the existing streams and having at least one of the required eligible job offers.

After determining their eligibility, they have to set up a profile through the online portal of BC PNP and register themselves under the category of either the Express Entry or Skills Immigration in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Another essential introduction to the immigration process is the removal of the guaranteed invitation scores. Previously, each category applicants had a guaranteed invitation score from each draw. It means that if a candidate managed to score the minimum score required, they would get an invitation.

The applicants in British Columbia under the categories of Express Entry and Skills Immigration will receive their scores based on their human capital and economic factors. These include scores on the job offer, educational background, work experience, age, annual earning, language proficiency, and employment.
