Alberta latest draw

The Canadian province of Alberta has released the information on the latest draw held on October 9 through its popular Express Entry aligned provincial nomination stream that issued a total of 115 invitations to federal Express Entry candidates with CRS scores as low as 350.

The federal Express Entry system is Canada’s principal source of Skilled foreign workers, which manages the pool of candidates for the three main skilled worker immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. The draw saw the distribution of 115 invitations to Express Entry candidates. The CRS score requirement was also not very high, as the Express Entry system often invites candidates with lower CRS scores.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to search the federal Express Entry pool for candidates who meet the AINP stream’s eligibility criteria and invite them to apply for provincial nomination.
To be considered for a nomination through AINP’s Express Entry stream, the candidates are required to create an Express Entry profile. To be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream, no job offer or previous work experience is mandatory. However, the candidate must be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities.

The AINP generally gives priority to candidates with:

  • A job offer and/or work experience in the Alberta province;
  • A degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer;
  • A parent, child or sibling already living in the province.

The candidates who secure a provincial nomination will be awarded 600 points that will be added to their CRS scores, which increase their chance of getting an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
So far, Alberta has conducted 26 draws tapping the federal Express Entry pool and issued around 4,862 of its 6,000 federal government nomination allocation.
The lowest-ranked candidate invited in the October 9 draw had a CRS score of 438.
