Visa Application Centres Are Operating In India Again

All prospective immigration candidates are aware that their biometric information is one of the most important components of their application to Canada. 

Since India happens to be the biggest source country of immigrants for Canada, the closure of Visa Application Centres or VACs in the country was posing a huge problem to many candidates waiting to shift to Canada. Most countries had to enforce a lockdown in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus, and hence VACs had to temporarily stop their services. 

VACs resuming services

Now that the situation is more under control and Canada has allowed some exemptions in terms of who can enter the country, VACs all around the world are opening up again. Canadian visa service centres are currently operational in India, much to people’s relief. 

One of the main reasons why VACs opened up in India was to accommodate the large number of international students waiting to begin their courses in-person in Canadian DLIs. Moreover, people who want to apply for permanent residence as a dependent child, spouse, or common-law partner will be given preference. According to IRCC, study permit applicants and family class candidates are the only ones who can submit their applications and complete their biometric process for now.

A few VACs opened up back on 20 November, and now they have been joined by four more centres. If you live in any of the following cities, you will be able to access the VAC services and complete your immigration process:

• Chandigarh
• Bangalore
• Chennai
• Jalandhar
• Kolkata
• Hyderabad
• Mumbai
