How did PNP fare last month?

The Provincial Nominee Program is highly advantageous for applicants who are targeting a specific territory or province. If they can meet the labor needs of a particular province with their skill set, they enjoy a slight advantage and that is more than fair.

Why PNP?

Canadian provinces and territories take their time to browse through the Express Entry applicant pool and nominate the economic immigration candidates who are best suited to fill in their labor markets. Once a candidate receives a provincial nomination, it becomes easier for them to become permanent residents in the long run.

In Canada, there are two different types of PNP streams. While the enhanced nomination streams directly feed off Express Entry, the base nomination streams have no connection with it whatsoever. The provinces and territories that organize PNP draw fall in the former category.

Performance

The provinces in Canada held a total of 10 draws just last month. This is an indication that none of the provinces are treating the pandemic as downtime. They know that they have to begin admitting immigrants as soon as the country lifts its border restrictions. The invitation round accounted for the distribution of about 3000 invitations to apply. Successful applicants are now applying for a provincial nomination which would then help them to get permanent residence.

Candidates who acquire provincial nominations have 600 points added to their CRS score, and that puts them at an advantage in comparison to other applicants. Canada recently released its immigration plans for the next three years in which IRCC states that PNP admissions will increase annually to make up for how slow 2020 was.
