Express Entry Draw 426 Issues 500 Invitations to Senior Managers Canada Immigration News

Canada’s immigration department has once again opened the door for experienced senior leaders already working in the country, issuing 500 invitations to apply for permanent residence in only the second Express Entry draw #426 ever held for the senior managers with Canadian work experience category.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) ran the draw on July 10, 2026, setting a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off of 392 points. That threshold sat well below the 429 points required in the first senior managers round, held on March 5, 2026, a 37-point difference that opened the invitation pool to a noticeably wider group of candidates.

Express Entry Draw #426 Highlights

The draw, invitation round #426, took place at 10:42:46 UTC and issued exactly 500 invitations to apply (ITAs). Candidates needed a CRS score of 392 or higher to be considered, and their Express Entry profile had to have been created before the tie-breaking cut-off of 1:46:05 a.m. UTC on March 15, 2026. Anyone who scored exactly 392 but submitted a profile after that date and time will not have made the cut this round, though they remain active in the pool for future draws.

This round pushed Canada’s 2026 Express Entry total to 38 draws for the year, and it was part of a busy four-draw week that also included Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class, and French-language proficiency rounds. Taken together, IRCC issued just over 8,000 ITAs across those four categories in a single week.

Who Qualifies For This Category?

Eligibility for the senior managers category is narrower than the job title alone might suggest. Candidates need at least 12 months of Canadian work experience, gained inside Canada rather than abroad, in one of four senior manager occupation groups under the National Occupational Classification system.

Occupation 2021 NOC Code TEER Category
Senior managers, construction, transportation, production and utilities 00015
Senior managers, trade, broadcasting and other services 00014
Senior managers, health, education, social and community services 00013
Senior managers, financial, communications and other business services 00012

IRCC has also been clear that the category is aimed at genuine decision-makers, meaning candidates who have carried responsibility for an entire department or organization, not simply anyone whose title includes the word manager.

2026 Express Entry By The Numbers

So far this year, category-based and program-specific draws have leaned heavily toward candidates who already have a foothold in Canada, whether through Canadian work experience or a provincial nomination. The table below breaks down how many draws each category has seen in 2026.

Draw Type Number Of Draws In 2026
Provincial Nominee Program 13
Canadian Experience Class 11
French-language proficiency
Physicians with Canadian work experience
Healthcare and social services
Senior managers with Canadian work experience
Trades

Across all categories, IRCC has issued 92,101 ITAs in 2026 to date, led by Canadian Experience Class (43,250) and French-language proficiency (35,500), with senior managers accounting for 750 of that total across both of this year’s draws.

Why The Lower Cut Off is Encouraging News?

A CRS score of 392 is a far more attainable target than the 517 points recently required in Canadian Experience Class rounds, and that gap matters most for senior managers, who are often older and tend to lose points under the age factor in the Comprehensive Ranking System. Without a category built specifically for their experience, many of these professionals would struggle to compete in general, non-category draws.

It is worth being cautious about reading too much into a single round. One draw does not establish a firm pattern, and it remains difficult to predict how frequently IRCC will return to this category or where future cut-offs will land. What is clear is that senior managers with Canadian work experience is one of ten priority categories IRCC has targeted for 2026, and the fact that this draw followed so soon after the categories were announced suggests it remains a genuine priority.

What To Do If Your Score Falls Short?

Candidates whose NOC code fits this category but who are not yet in the Express Entry pool should treat this as a signal to submit a profile as soon as possible, since earlier entry generally improves standing for future rounds. For those already in the pool sitting below 392, there are practical ways to close the gap. Stronger results on a language test can lift a CRS score meaningfully, and a provincial nomination can add 600 points outright, often turning a borderline profile into a near-certain invitation.

This draw reinforces a theme we have tracked all year at Canada Immigration News: Canada’s selection system is increasingly rewarding people who are already contributing to the domestic labour market. For senior managers weighing whether to stay the course in Canada, a second targeted round within four months is a meaningful vote of confidence that this pathway is here to stay, at least for now.

Frequently Asked Questions

What CRS score was needed for the July 10, 2026 Express Entry draw?

Candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System score of 392 or higher to receive an invitation in this senior managers round.

How many invitations were issued, and what round number was it?

Who is eligible for the senior managers with Canadian work experience category?

There is no confirmed schedule. This is only the second draw for this category, so a clear pattern has not yet emerged, though it remains one of IRCC’s ten priority categories for 2026.
