Prince Edward Island organizes the largest Expression of Interest draw since the month of February

While Prince Edward Island is known to be the smallest province in Canada, it is also a great place for immigrants. Recently, the province organized one of the largest draws that it had seen within the last year. Prince Edward Island (PEI) held the draw on 21st November and used the opportunity to issue 171 invitations. They were distributed among immigration candidates who can be classified under the following categories- Express Entry, Business Impact, and Labour Impact.

This was the second-largest draw organized by Prince Edward Island in 2019. The largest draw took place on 21st February and produced a total of 199 invitations.

The 157 candidates who were invited via the Express Entry and Labour Impact categories during the draw on 21st November will now be able to submit their applications for Canadian permanent residence. They will be applying for nominations from the PEI Provincial Nominee Program. The Express Entry Category in Prince Edward Island is associated with the federal Express Entry system.

The Express Entry system looks after the pool of candidates who can be categorized under Canada’s primary economic immigration programs, namely the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Canadian Experience Class, and the Federal Skilled Trades Class. When Express Entry candidates also have a provincial nomination, they are given an extra additional 600 points that can be merged with their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. As a result, this boost almost guarantees them an invitation via which they are able to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the next Express Entry draw.

If candidates want to receive an invitation for a PEI provincial nomination, they have to first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the PEI Provincial Nominee Program. The EOI profiles are assigned a score based on which they are considered for the draw.
