Saskatchewan Express Entry

Before the upcoming election determines the new Government, Canada is trying its level best to boost its immigration programs and attract more and more permanent residents. The latest Saskatchewan draw invited nearly 1,000 Express Entry candidates with specific work experience to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The province issued nearly 986 invitations to candidates in the federal Express Entry system who had registered a separate profile with the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). The SINP has given the freedom to Saskatchewan to nominate eligible foreign workers so they can receive permanent residence in Canada.

The 986 invitations were the most issued in a single draw through SINP’s Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The SINP’s Express Entry sub-category is closely associated with the federal Express Entry (EE) system which manages the pool of three main economic immigration categories – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Trades Class. All the EE candidates who get provincial nomination are given extra 600 points which are added to their CRS score, which increases their chances of getting a Canadian permanent residence.

To be eligible for a nomination from SINP, it is not mandatory to have a job offer from Saskatchewan employer.
However, having work experience in an eligible occupation that is aligned with their field of study is necessary.
The latest October 17 draw issued invitations to Express Entry candidates with work experience in the following occupations:

  • Retail and wholesale trade managers (NOC 0621)
  • Restaurant and foodservice managers (NOC 0631)
  • Construction managers (NOC 0711)
  • Managers in agriculture (NOC 0821)
  • Other financial officers (NOC 1114)
  • Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311)
  • Information systems analysts and consultants (NOC 2171)
  • Social and community service workers (NOC 4212)
  • Early childhood educators and assistants (NOC 4214)
  • Technical sales specialists – wholesale trade (NOC 6221)
  • Heavy-duty equipment mechanics (NOC 7312)
  • Automotive service technicians, truck and bus mechanics and mechanical repairers (NOC 7321)

Candidates invited in the SINP’s recent draw had a minimum score of 67 under the EOI points grid. This score is based on factors like age, qualification, proficiency in English or French and connections to Saskatchewan, among other eligibility criteria.
