Saskatchewan holds second round of Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand draws in two weeks

We are already halfway through 2019, seeing which the Canadian government has also speed-up their immigration process. To help Canada achieve its target and to increase the number of immigrants, the provinces of Canada are also doing their part in granting provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

The province of Saskatchewan held its second round of major draws in two weeks on October 2, by inviting 610 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. This draw is the second major draw conducted since the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) expanded its number of high-skilled occupations that are eligible under the Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories.

The last week’s draw saw a total of 769 invitations being issued to Saskatchewan immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories.
The candidates invited in the draw represented 77 occupations, which included human resource professionals, engineers, computer network technicians, legal assistants, educational counselors, natural and applied science researchers as well as cleaning supervisors.

One of the main eligibility requirements which both Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand candidates of SINP have to satisfy is related to work experience. The candidate must have previous experience in an eligible occupation related to their field of study to be considered for a provincial nomination through either sub-category, along with other eligibility requirements. However, it is not mandatory for the candidates to have a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer.
A total number of 214 invitations went to Occupation In-Demand candidates and another 396 invitations were issued through the SINP’s EE sub-category, which is open to candidates with their profile in the Federal Express Entry system. Express Entry includes candidates who fall under Canada’s main Economic Class immigration categories – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class. All the Express Entry candidates who get a provincial nomination gets and an advantage of an additional 600 points towards their CRS score, granting them a better shot at securing permanent residence.

If you wish to be a contender for receiving an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination in Canada, you must register a separate Expression of Interest with the SINP. When you register a separate Expression of Interest, you should make sure that it details your education qualification, work experience, and language proficiency in English or French. The candidates are then issued a score based on these factors and the ones with the highest scores are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
The minimum scores in the SINP’s October 2 draws were 68 for both the Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-category.
