Prince Edward Island continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Canada’s most immigration-friendly provinces. On October 17, 2025, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) conducted its second-largest immigration draw of the year, inviting 160 candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

This was the 10th draw of 2025, bringing the total number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) issued through PEI PNP to 1,081 as of October 26, 2025. The latest round highlights the province’s ongoing efforts to address labour shortages while supporting its economic development priorities.

Focus on Skilled Workers and International Graduates

The PEI PNP continues to prioritize applicants who are already living and working in the province under the Labour Impact and PEI Express Entry categories. Skilled workers and international graduates, especially those with local education or work experience, stand the best chance of selection.

Institutions like the University of Prince Edward Island and Holland College have become key talent pipelines for the province, helping graduates transition into the workforce. Candidates employed in healthcare, manufacturing, and trades sectors were among those invited in this draw.

The Office of Immigration clarified that those in sales and service occupations may not be prioritised currently, as the focus remains on critical sectors that directly contribute to long-term labour market growth.

This makes it PEI’s second-largest draw in 2025, just six invitations fewer than the year’s biggest round. Most draws this year have targeted candidates from the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams, with only one earlier draw including candidates from the Business Impact – Work Permit stream.

Due to limited nomination allocations and an increasing number of profiles, PEI PNP has become more selective. Only candidates whose occupations align with provincial priorities are being invited. This targeted approach ensures that immigration directly supports population growth and meets employer demand across industries crucial to PEI’s economic stability.

How the PEI PNP Selection Works

The PEI PNP operates under an Expression of Interest (EOI) system. Interested candidates must create an online profile indicating their preferred stream. Once submitted, they enter the pool and are ranked based on several factors such as:

  • Language proficiency in English or French
  • Education level and institution of completion
  • Work experience in in-demand occupations
  • Connection to PEI’s economy
  • Employment status or valid job offer from a local employer

Those with higher scores and stronger ties to the province are most likely to receive an invitation. If selected under an Express Entry-linked stream, the provincial nomination adds 600 CRS points to their federal profile, almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

What This Draw Means for Skilled Workers and Employers

This latest draw confirms PEI’s strategy of selecting candidates already contributing to the local labour market. Skilled professionals and international graduates working in the province now have a clearer path to permanent residency, strengthening workforce retention. For employers, the PEI PNP continues to be a vital tool to address ongoing labour shortages, particularly in essential sectors such as construction, healthcare, and manufacturing. Employers can collaborate with foreign workers already in PEI to secure their long-term employment through nomination support.

The Future of PEI Immigration in 2025 and Beyond

As Canada prepares for its next Immigration Levels Plan, PEI’s program remains aligned with federal priorities, focusing on population growth, economic resilience, and sustainable workforce development. The province’s balanced approach ensures that immigration continues to benefit both newcomers and local industries, building a stable foundation for the years ahead.

Prince Edward Island PNP Strengthens Its Role in Canada’s Economic Growth

The Prince Edward Island PNP continues to play a central role in helping skilled workers and graduates secure their future in Canada. With its second-largest draw of 2025, PEI once again proves that targeted immigration policies can effectively meet economic needs while supporting newcomers. If you’re planning to apply through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program, now is the time to build your profile strategically. Stay tuned to Canada Immigration News for the next PEI PNP draw of 2025.
