Nova Scotia has recently witnessed a boom in immigration, and the trend is continuing. The records of the most recent Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream draw have been publicly released. Nova Scotia has issued invitations to 144 Express Entry candidates who want to apply for a provincial nomination. Having a provincial nomination will give an edge to the candidates who want to secure Canadian permanent residence under the Labour Market Priorities Stream.

In the recent draw, the Nova Scotia Nominee Program put extra effort into inviting candidates who are already working in the fields of marketing, advertising, or public relations. The selected candidates were required to have the National Occupation Code (NOC) 1123.

The Labour Market Priorities Stream gives permission to the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) to browse through Canada’s Express Entry pool in search of eligible candidates who meet the particular labor market needs of the province. The stream was launched back in 2018, and since then, it has contributed to inviting financial auditors, early childhood education workers, accountants, and social workers into the province. The stream also focused on Express Entry candidates who were fluent in French.

The selected candidates must be able to provide letters of reference from their employers so as to prove that they have had two or more years of full-time work experience or its equivalent part-time experience. The areas of work are strictly limited to marketing, advertising, and public relations. They were also required to have English as their first official language. Their Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score should have been 9 or higher in all language skills.

The candidates were also required to have a postgraduate degree and needed to provide proof of education along with their applications. They should also have submitted an Expression of Interest under the Express Entry pool on or post 1st January 2019.
