Manitoba PNP Draw Invites 328 Healthcare Professionals on October 14
On October 14, 2025, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) held a targeted Expression of Interest (EOI) draw inviting 328 healthcare professionals to apply for provincial nomination for permanent residency. According to Labour and Immigration Minister Malaya Marcelino and Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara, the draw selected 187 healthcare aides, 21 physicians, 11 registered nurses, and additional allied health professionals.
This draw underscores Manitoba’s continued focus on rebuilding and strengthening its healthcare workforce to meet urgent staffing needs across the province.
Manitoba Continues to Strengthen Its Healthcare System Through Immigration
The latest MPNP healthcare draw is part of Manitoba’s broader strategy to stabilize and expand its health services. Since October 2023, the province has successfully added nearly 3,400 new healthcare workers, contributing to a more resilient system capable of serving both urban and rural communities.
“Our government is rebuilding healthcare after years of cuts and neglect,” said Minister Marcelino. “By making it easier for skilled workers to stay and build their careers here, we’re ensuring hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities have the staff needed to care for Manitobans.”
Focus on Rural Recruitment and Community Impact
The provincial draw’s impact is particularly meaningful for rural areas. Two physicians invited through this round are already serving in Killarney, a small Manitoba community that has faced recruitment challenges.
“The impact of this draw for Killarney means that we have two doctors choosing to stay and make our community their home,” said Mayor Janice Smith of Killarney–Turtle Mountain. “Here, doctors truly become part of the community, and families can count on care close to home when it’s needed most.”
Manitoba’s Healthcare Recruitment Goals
The MPNP’s targeted draws enable the province to select skilled workers who are already contributing to Manitoba’s essential services. By inviting healthcare aides, physicians, nurses, and other support staff to apply for permanent residency, Manitoba ensures long-term stability and patient-centered care throughout the province.
Since 2023, the Manitoba government’s Health Human Resource Action Plan has aimed to recruit, retain, and recognize healthcare professionals while addressing critical shortages in hospitals and community clinics.
About the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program
The MPNP allows the Manitoba government to nominate skilled workers for permanent residency based on local labour market needs. Through its EOI system, the province can issue invitations to candidates whose occupations align with Manitoba’s economic and social priorities, particularly in the healthcare sector.
