In 2026, four Canadian cities once again proved their global appeal by being named among the world’s top 100 best student cities in the QS Best Student Cities Rankings. Despite a dip in overall scores compared to previous years, Canada’s cities remain an attractive destination for international students seeking high-quality education, safety, diversity, and career opportunities.

The QS Best Student Cities Rankings 2026 were released by global higher education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds. This report evaluates cities based on a mix of metrics such as university rankings, affordability, student mix, and employer activity.

2. Toronto: Diverse, Dynamic, and Globally Recognized

Toronto ranked 22nd globally in 2026, falling from 11th in 2025. Despite the drop, it continues to shine in Student Mix and Employer Activity, offering strong job opportunities and a multicultural environment.

    • Student View: 93.1
    • Student Mix: 91.8
    • Employer Activity: 85.6
  • Lows:
    • Affordability: 17.4 (the lowest among Canadian cities)

3. Vancouver: Popular, But Pricey

Vancouver secured the 29th spot globally (tied), with top scores in Student Mix. It’s known for scenic beauty, quality education, and strong employment prospects. However, it continues to be Canada’s most expensive city for students.
