Black Entrepreneurship Program

The Government of Canada has launched renewed funding for the Black Entrepreneurship Program, providing $189 million through the Ecosystem Fund to empower Black-led organizations, immigrant entrepreneurs, and small business owners across southern Ontario. The program will run through 2030 and aims to reduce systemic barriers while improving access to capital, mentorship, training, and networks for Black Canadian entrepreneurs.

Minister Evan Solomon announced the funding, highlighting the program’s goal to create an inclusive and resilient economy that supports all communities. With over 24,000 Black entrepreneurs already supported and more than $70.6 million in loans approved, this initiative will build on proven success and help thousands more thrive.

Strengthening Southern Ontario’s Entrepreneurial Network

The Black Entrepreneurship Program supports not-for-profit organizations that work directly with entrepreneurs. These organizations will now be able to expand services such as:

  • Business mentorship and leadership training
  • Financial planning and investment readiness
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities
  • Access to funding and business tools

Empowering Black and Immigrant Entrepreneurs

The program directly benefits Black entrepreneurs and immigrant business owners who often face challenges accessing traditional financing. By working with community partners, the initiative ensures equitable access to resources that build sustainable businesses and create jobs within local economies.

Minister Rechie Valdez noted that this investment gives entrepreneurs the ability to “start up, scale up, and strengthen Canada’s economy.” The goal is not only to provide financial support but to create lasting networks of opportunity across communities.

Investing in Canada’s Economic Future

The Black Entrepreneurship Program is part of a broader effort to make Canada’s economy more inclusive. Empowering diverse entrepreneurs helps generate innovation, job creation, and long-term prosperity. Supporting small businesses in every community is how the country builds stronger, fairer economic foundations.
