Canada Organizes Huge PNP Draw on October 27

Canada aimed to increase immigration in 2021 after the country suffered an immigration dip in 2020 because of the pandemic. The Immigration Levels Plan 2021-2023 made it clear that Canada wants to increase the number of newcomers dramatically in the next few years.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is abiding by this plan so far and organizing large draws to invite more skilled candidates into the country than ever before. The latest federal Express Entry draw took place on October 27 and issued a total of 888 invitations to eligible candidates. The invited candidates will now be able to submit their applications for Canadian permanent residence. 

Score Requirement

The minimum required score for candidates in this draw to be eligible for an invitation was 744. It is important to remember that this draw catered to Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates who had already secured provincial nominations. Canada PNP allows provinces and territories to select eligible candidates from the Express Entry pool to fill their labor gaps.

Candidates who satisfy all their requirements are often awarded provincial nominations and awarded 600 extra CRS points that are added to their score automatically.  This means that the candidates invited to apply for permanent residence in the October 27 draw were effectively required to have a minimum score of 144.

The October 27 draw happened to be the third biggest PNP draw of 2021 which goes to show that Canada is trying to end the year on a high note. If you are interested in securing a provincial nomination, you have to check provincial requirements individually and submit an Express Entry profile.
