British Columbia distributes 407 invitations during the new PNP draw

The province of British Columbia has been steadily inviting immigrants who will benefit the province’s labor market. A recent draw, organized on September 15, 2020, saw British Columbia inviting 407 immigration candidates who are now eligible to apply for a provincial nomination. The province has issued more than 6,000 immigration candidates so far in 2020.

Details of the draw

The provincial nominee program draw was organized by British Columbia to invite skilled candidates. The invitations were assigned to candidates belonging to the Express Entry BC (EEBC) and Skills Immigration (SI) streams. The Skilled Worker, the International Graduate, the Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled categories were included in the draw specifically. The minimum scores required for the candidates to receive an invitation ranged from 75 to 95 points.

The EEBC category caters to candidates who have a valid profile under the federal government’s Express Entry system. On the other hand, the SI category is dedicated to skilled and semi-skilled workers who work in professions that are in high demand in British Columbia.

Skills Immigration Registration System

The province’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) manages the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) categories. If you want to submit your application through the SIRS, you will have to register an account. After the registration, you will be given a score on the basis of factors such as work experience, education, and language proficiency.

The candidates who secure the highest scores then receive an invitation to apply for a provincial nomination. If they succeed, the candidates who are invited under the EEBC categories will gain an additional 600 points giving them an advantage over other candidates.

All the categories that fall under the SIRS need candidates to get a job offer from an employer in British Columbia.
