110,000 immigrants received PR through Express Entry system in 2019

Express Entry has steadily attained more popularity ever since it was introduced. New data released by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) indicates that 332,331 Express Entry profiles were registered with the Canadian immigration authorities last year. The immigration department in Canada released the 2019 Express Entry Year-End Report on June 26, and it provides us with all the necessary details to evaluate how the Express Entry economic immigration system is performing.

The total number of profiles marked an increase of over 20 percent as compared to the year before. This shows that prospective newcomers are using the Express Entry system extensively in order to express their interest in immigration.

Canada admitted 109,595 principal applicants along with their family members and granted them permanent residence via the Express Entry system in 2019. Candidates belonging to the Federal Skilled Worker Program represented the majority of the individuals who were admitted, followed by Canadian Experience Class (30,230) candidates and Provincial Nominee Program candidates.

The report states that 72 percent out of almost 332,000 Express Entry profiles registered in 2019 fulfilled one of the three Federal High Skilled programs at least. The IRCC organized 26 invitation rounds last year and issued 85, 300 invitations.

Occupations:

One-third of the applicants who were given invitations to apply for permanent residence were occupied in the information technology, business and finance industries. The occupations valued most highly in the immigration system turned out to be software engineering and designing. Interactive media developers and computer programmers also benefited prominently.

Location:

Indians received the maximum number of ITAs, followed by the United States., Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan. The average processing time last year was eight months. Most of the candidates who secured invitations were already living in Canada.
