Saskatchewan distributes 234 invitations during the second January selection round

The second selection round of the Saskatchewan draw ended up in the distribution of a total of 542 invitations amongst candidates belonging to the Express Entry and Occupations In-Demand categories. The recent two Saskatchewan selection rounds took place only a few days apart from each other. On 13th January, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) produced another 234 invitations and gave them to candidates classified under the province’s Occupations In-Demand and Express Entry categories.

The round held before that was a little bigger and issued a total of 308 invitations. They were given to candidates belonging to the same sub-categories. The two-day gap between the draws is the shortest recorded gap between two consecutive draws. Saskatchewan started the Expression of Interest (EOI) system back in August 2018, and since then, the dates of two consecutive draws have always been more than two days till January 2020.

Saskatchewan has an effective EOI system that grants permission to the province to pick out immigration candidates who have the potential to deliver their best performance in the province. The interested candidates have to create a profile in the EOI system, and they are then assessed based on certain factors. The authorities consider their work experience, language fluency, age, and education. Moreover, it is also taken into account if the candidate has any connection to the province that would make it easier for them to settle in.

All the candidates are awarded a score out of 100 on the basis of SINP’s International Skilled Worker Points Assessment Grid. The ones with the highest scores are then issued invitations that would allow them to apply for a provincial nomination. This will give them an edge if they want Canadian permanent residence. The minimum score for the January 13 draw was just 69 for both the categories.
