Canada has always been a welcoming country for immigrants, and with Federal elections being around the corner, its territories and provinces have sped up the process. The province of Alberta recently revealed the details of the draw that was held on September 25 through the Express Entry – linked provincial nomination stream.

All provinces and territories that take part in the PNP have at least one stream that is linked to Canada’s Express Entry System, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three main skilled worker immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

The draw saw the distribution of 374 invitations to Express Entry candidates. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement was also not very high, as candidates with scores as low as 425 also received NOIs. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) gets an advantage which allows the province to look for immigrants who they think will be beneficial to the province. They can search the federal Express Entry pool of candidates and then select the ones who fulfill the stream’s eligibility criteria.

Candidates can secure a provincial nomination will be awarded 600 points that will be added to their CRS scores. This will result in increasing their chances of getting an invitation via which they will be able to apply to the Government for permanent residence (ITA) in Canada. The Alberta Express Entry stream doesn’t require the candidates to have a job offer to be eligible. However, having one may increase the likelihood of being invited.

The lowest-ranked candidate invited in the September 25 draw had a CRS score of 400, which is lower than the cut-off score in the latest federal Express Entry draw, which was 464.
The 374 invitations issued in AINP’s September 25 draw brought the total number of invitations being issued in 2019 to 6,088.
